Tough Enough to Wear Pink.. Where did it start?

The Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign debuted at the 2004 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (Las Vegas, NV) when one evening of competition was devoted to the breast cancer cause. Cowboys and cowgirls were encouraged to wear pink to signify their support, and sponsors made donations. The event became known as Pink Night, and the groundswell of support from the western industry and rodeo community began to grow. Rodeo committees, western events, and western manufacturers support this campaign and the momentum continues to build. Through the National Tough Enough to Wear Pink Foundation, The Foundation for Health, with Days of 76 Rodeo is approved annually to host our local TETWP Campaign to strengthen the local community with cancer prevention, awareness, treatment, and recovery.

Community Commitment to Others

Our shirt sales are important for our community members and the families that reach out to our foundation as a pathway for prevention, education, hope and help. Our successful annual campaigns are a huge testament to a wave of community teamwork through personal donations, rodeo fan donations and local business shirt sales! Although Tough Enough to Wear Pink began in 2004, Deadwood held its first TETWP fundraiser with the purpose of helping individuals in the community struggling with cancer. The Days of 76 Rodeo Committee has partnered with our foundation to continue this tradition every year since 2005.

100% of all funds raised stay here! Funds go predominantly to persons who directly need assistance in their fight with cancer (pharmacy, transportation costs, etc.). Also a percentage promotes and funds preventive measures such as necessary exams and cancer education in the Northern Hills and Beyond.

It is our goal to use our donated funds efficiently and wholly. Referrals and applications come by word of mouth, from physicians, family members and individuals. With the help of donors, and through our Tough Enough to Wear Pink Campaign, we are proud to ease burdens, and be known as a pathway for community members who are struggling with this disease to seek support.
