Foundation History
Our foundation, like our communities, values and embraces our history. As we journey through the decades, our foundation serves many generations.
We respect our past giving care to choices in the present and development of our vision for the future.
OUR HISTORY
- In 1986 established as separate 501 C (3) governed by a volunteer Board of Directors
- In 1989 Capital Campaign to establish endowment for supplementing the future of community health and safety. The success of this endowment fund is due to the hundreds of families with continuing commitment in investment in the future of their local community healthcare and safety.
- Over the years, the foundation has financially contributed to many projects in support of our local hospital, and also our greater community. In 2013, the foundation changed its name from the Lead-Deadwood Hospital Foundation to the Foundation for Health, with the tagline, Lead • Deadwood • Beyond. This change reflects the growth in the foundation’s evolving role as a charitable organization in our Northern Hills area.
- Some of our foundation projects include: new ambulances, helmets for the school snow programs, physical therapy equipment, wheelchair for access for Days of 76 Museum, ventilator for Emergency Medical Services, installation of CT Scan for hospital, financial help to those traveling for treatments, and many others.
